Forever Pucked: The Pucked Series, Book 4 - Helena Hunting

Title: Forever Pucked

Series: Pucked #4

Author: Helena Hunting

Publication Date: March 29, 2016

Genre: New Adult Sports Contemporary Romance

Being engaged to Alex Waters, team captain and the highest paid NHL player in the league, is awesome. How could it not be?

In addition to being an amazing hockey player, he’s an incurable romantic with an XL heart, and an XXL hockey stick in his pants. And he knows how to use it. Incredibly, orgasmically well. Alex is the whole package and more. Literally. Like his package is insane. Total world record holder material.

So it makes complete sense that Violet Hall can’t wait to nail him down to the matrimonial mattress and become Mrs. Violet Waters.

It’s so romantic.

Violet is totally stoked to set a date.

Eventually. At some point. Likely before the next millennium. Or when Violet stops getting hives every time someone brings up the wedding, and their mothers stop colluding on stadium sized venues. Whichever comes first.

Review

The day we've all been (it can't just be me, right?) waiting for since the end of the first book. The wedding. You know, the thing everyone's mothers have been talking about--Alex Waters and Violet Hall's wedding. The very thing that has been giving Vi the case of the hives for the past few books. Vi and Alex are back again (like they really ever left) to finally, FINALLY tie the knot. *throws confetti*

In Forever Pucked, we see a whole new side of Violet--a side we never would have expected to see from her. We know Vi as the uber crass, unashamedly blunt, highly sexual, no-holds-barred girl in the previous books, but we get to meet an emotional Vi this time around. Something happens that shakes up Alex and Vi's entire world (thanks for punching me in the chest, Helena!), that brings out all their sides to the surface and come face to face with...everything. It also compels Vi to confront her fears, and Alex to face his insecurities and future. Readers will get an inside look in the depths of both Alex and Vi as they lay down their walls/bold personalities and make adult decisions for the both of them.

Vi is as balls to the walls crazy as she always is, but spending time with her mom, coupled with Alex's mom and they give her a run for her money. Yes, you read that right. If you've read Pucked, you wouldn't think that was even possible! Those two together are dangerous, and not because of all the wedding talk either. You think Vi is bad, but the mom's are worse (and that's saying something) and I couldn't stop laughing. The things these ladies said/were up to were so crazy but funny at the same time. I mean, I wouldn't be laughing either if I were Vi, but I just couldn't help it. I guess we know where Vi gets her crass tendencies from then.

Their mom's aren't the only characters to make cameos; our favorite couples (and Lance) make appearances too, and boy did that come with its own surprises and bouts of laugh-inducing shenanigans. Buck and Sunny, and Lily and Balls (one last hip-thrust) I absolutely loved seeing the gang again for the holy matrimony and in all the events leading up to it. I hope you're ready for some devious antics that will cause secondhand embarrassment.

I ship Beaver + Super MC. Forever.

Jockblocked (Gridiron) (Volume 2) - Jen Frederick

Title: Jockblocked

Series: Gridiron #2

Author: Jen Frederick

Publication Date: February 11, 2016

Genre: New Adult Sports Contemporary Romance

She’s always played it safe…

College junior Lucy Washington abides by one rule—avoid risk at all costs. She’s cautious in every aspect of her life, from her health, to her mock trial team, to the boring guys she dates. When a brash, gorgeous jock walks into the campus coffeeshop and turns his flirt on, Lucy is stunned by the force of attraction. For the first time ever, she’s willing to step out of her comfort zone, but can she really trust the guy who’s determined to sweep her off her feet?

He’s always played around…

Entering his last year of college eligibility, linebacker Matthew "Matty" Iverson has the team captaincy in his sights. And it’s his for the taking, if he can convince his quarterback Ace Anderson to give up the starting position. Luckily, Matty already has an edge—the hottie he’s lusting over just happens to be Ace’s childhood best friend. Getting Lucy on his side and in his bed? Hell yeah. Matty is more than confident he can have both, but when he falls hard for Lucy, it’s time for a new game plan: convince the woman of his dreams that she’s not sleeping with the enemy.

Review

This book came at a pleasant surprise to me when I received an early copy because I literally had no idea there was going to be another book after Sacked (shame on me!). I guess I should've done my research then maybe I would've known that Matty Iverson was getting a chance to tell his story. And I'm so glad there is, not only because I missed these characters, but because I wanted to know more about Matty and how he and Lucy are together.

I never expected or thought I wanted to know more about Matty until I dug into Jockblocked. I'm going to be honest here, but I did grow bored ONLY when all of Lucy's mock trial stuff and Matty's football (judge me all you want), which I'm going to put that on my lack of mock trial and football knowledge. Don't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with either of those, but I did get a little lost when their inner monologue or time in those activities went a bit long and I forgot what was going on. However, it was interesting to learn about them. Learn new things everyday, right? Thank goodness it doesn't last long because Matty is relentless trying to figure out the ever-cautious Lucy, the first ever to resist his "charms", and convince her to go out/sleep with him, and their back and forth is so entertaining. It will have you laughing every time Matty tries but fails and becomes mind-boggled over it (jockblocked!), and then have you fanning yourself when things get steamy. And boy, when Matty wore Lucy's shear will-power thin and they jumped into bed together, did it get seriously hot and fun in the bedroom.

These two bring out different sides of each other and it's kind of eye-opening to see that surface and how they react to it and maybe apply it in life. You go, Lucy, for having tough will-power! You held out as long as you could and called Matty out when he was out of line or when his game was weak around you. It was interesting to get to know more about Matty, how he was like in the Sacked, and to see him grow into a man who Because they are quite polar opposites, to see how they interact and get close to each other makes it all the more fun, so better pop some corn and enjoy.

Since this came at a surprise to me, I want more. I don't know who about, but I know that I want more. Jen Frederick knows her football and can spin it into great ass sports romances. Interesting too, to boot. If that's what you're looking for, let me introduce you to Frederick's Gridiron series. You're welcome.

I received an early copy, however it does not influence my review, nor was/am I monetarily compensated. Thank you, Nina Bocci! I loved it.

Review

My girl Helena Hunting is at it again, killing us with these characters in this series. I love it! In Pucked Over, Randy Balls (hip-thrust) gets a chance at love whether he was looking for it or not, with the unlikely character Lily, whom we got to know in Pucked Up...and had a sort-of thing going on with. We get to know more about what went down between them in that book, and see where they go from there.

Lily gives Balls (hip-thrust one more time!) a run for his money. The back and forth between them, that we got a little taste in Pucked Up, is highly entertaining: Lily ruining Randy's underwear thus becomes his new favorite, and their bathroom hook-ups. Yeah, these two have a knack for getting it on in bathrooms--public and private. Eventually they graduate to walls and doors and a bed, but traditional is not what they're known for. Not quite like Vi, but almost. You'll see. These two are an unlikely pair to get together...Like, it's hard to even imagine them being friends, but then you know...opposites attract and all that.

Always with the dicks, Helena? LOL. Randy's has a personality of its own too, that's all I gotta say about it. Anyway, Lily and Randy keep each other on their toes a lot, with their polar and bold personalities, that makes it so much more fun to see them fight/deny their attraction and then epically fail when they find a bathroom to christen.

Can't have a cameo without Vi, and she is balls to the walls crazy as ever. Vi still has balls of steel. Probably the ballsiest of them all. Vi out-balls Balls. To give Randy Balls (lol) some credit, he did put up a good fight. She had me craughing with her ridiculous antics yet again. When will the wedding get it over with so Vi can calm the fuck down!?!??! Never change, vi.

Thank you for blessing us with this rowdy group that makes us laugh so much, Helena. The humor is why I love Helena Hunting so much. If you haven't already, I recommend (almost) everyone to read this series. I must warn you that this kind of wild and unique humor, that these books may not be for everyone, but you should give it a chance. It's HI-larious and that's no joke. You gotta have thick skin in order to handle this Canadian bunch/humor. Thick like molasses. Or maple syrup. Gotta love Canadians.

JAX: A Rockstar Stepbrother Romance - Vivian Lux

Title: Jax

He's JAX.

He's a rockstar. He's a screw-up. He broke my heart.

He's my new stepbrother.

Jaxson Blue is rock royalty: the son of one of the biggest names on the planet. He was my first...everything.

Then he broke my heart in the most public way possible.

I never want to think about Jax again.

Too bad his music seems to follow me wherever I go.

Now my hard-living roadie of a father is marrying Jax's rock star mother and the four of us have to co-exist in the same house for two weeks. Jax is still the same sexy, arrogant jerk I fell in love with, and I'm too weak to resist him for long.

So I make a deal with myself.

It's only until the wedding.

It's only a fling.

It doesn't mean anything.

I'm not doing anything wrong...right?

Review

When Vivian first approached me with Jax last week back when it was called Cocky, learning that it has a forbidden romance trope AND a rock star trope, I was so in. What a heady and delightful combo, right?

Jax and Lily had formed a friendship while their parents were going out for about ten years, before spending one passionate night together that tore them apart for a year, before their parents dropped the bomb of finally tying the knot. I think that's what I loved most -- a friendship going on before feelings developed and before their parents finally decided to get married. Being the son of a legendary rock star for a mom, and being a daughter of a long-time roadie, they both know what it's like being on the road and the ups and downs, the benefits and ugly side of the industry. While being on the road, they've made some life-long friendships along the way and have become some sort of uncles to them, ultimately becoming family. Having this family unit is so vital and such a joy to read about. They give some damn sage advice all the while shooting the shit with each other, all in good fun.

Another thing I loved was that both Jax and Lily both worked hard to build their lives, they didn't get to where they are by going the easy route from parental connections. Yes, Jax is the son of a music icon and he could've easily gotten a record deal through mom, but he didn't. He wrote his own songs, formed his own band, recorded an EP and all that jazz in order for him to score a label. And Lily, while she strayed from music, she put herself through school to get her degree, and worked to support herself in a tiny apartment. There's nothing more admirable than those who work for their dream and future.

I wouldn't necessarily say they grew up together per se, they didn't grow up in the same house, but they have spent quite some time around each other when their parents were dating on and off for ten years. That's enough time to get to know each other and learn what makes them tick. This is where the original title Cocky fits for Jax. His big personality and ego got to his head(s) often that he's become cocky through adolescence and into adulthood. I think that's Jax's flaw for me. A lot of the time throughout the book, his actions were a bit immature for a man his age. He's too old to be throwing hissy fits, even if he is a rock star. And the way he treated Lily the day after she gave it up to him that fateful night, lets just say that I was glad she left his ass in the dust and got the hell away from him. Take care of yourself and forget those fuckboys, we don't need 'em, girl. Suffice to say Jax finally owns up and gets his shit together to continue working his way up the charts and get his girl.

Pucked Up - Helena Hunting

Title: Pucked Up

Series: Pucked #2

Author: Helena Hunting

Publication Date: October 25, 2015

Genre: New Adult Sports Contemporary Romance

Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth, and he was drafted into the NHL during his first year of college. After five years of deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies across the Continental US and parts of Canada, Miller is ready for a girlfriend. A real girlfriend of the non-bunny variety. One he takes on dates and doesn’t jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.

Miller thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike Alex Waters, center, team captain and all round nice guy—who happens to be dating his step-sister—Miller’s manwhore reputation is well earned, and not blown out of proportion by the media. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about having a girlfriend. But he’s determined to make it happen.

What he doesn’t take into account is the amount of time and effort relationships require, or that constantly letting bunnies take selfies with him to post all over social media isn’t going to win him any points in the boyfriend department. Miller learns—not so quickly—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.

Review

Pucked Up is Buck's time to shine with Sunny. Okay, bad pun, but you get it. So we first met Buck in Pucked as Vi's stepbrother, and Sunny as Alex's sister. They had a "thing" if you will that, guessing by the events in Pucked and Buck's rep, readers would question his motive with Sunny. In Pucked Up, we get to explore what his motives are and get to know more about them both individually and together.

Oh man, this book had me feel for Buck so hard. A series of unfortunate events kept coming for Buck and some of it impacted Sunny. It was like a domino effect; it was one thing after another after another and so on. It was painful to see but I also couldn't stop laughing (I'm sorry, Buck!). Poor Buck. Luckily he has a team of people by his side and a little Sunny sunshine to grace Buck with good luck, public sex and reality checks.

We all love cameos of characters from previous books and Vi and Alex makes a few in this one. You'd think it would be all dandy, but there are some bumps for the two, especially when they run interference with Buck and Sunny. I mean, it can't be easy having your stepbrother dating your boyfriends sister without a little drama. Vi....Girl, I couldn't even handle you. Vi was a force to be reckoned with as you can probably guess. She had me busting up non-stop with her crass and blunt personality that's just all up in your face. I loved it, and if readers loved her in Pucked, they will get a kick out of her in this one too. On top of Vi and Alex coming to the rescue for their respected siblings, they seem to have some bumps on their own that I hope will work out and get Vi's ass down the freaking aisle already. Just get it done and over with, girl, so the mother-in-law's can lay off the wedding drama.

I'm looking forward to Pucked Over featuring a surprising couple from Pucked Up. Can't wait to see how that all pans out. And I'm hoping for a Vi and Alex wedding in there, Helena!

In The Dark (The Rules Book 2) - Monica Murphy

Title: In the Dark

Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Stuck spending the summer with his screwed up family, Gabriel Walker is bored out of his mind and looking for an adventure. And he seems to find it with the hot girl who lives next door. The attraction between them is instant. Electric. Soon they’re spending every stolen minute together. Talk about the perfect summer fling…

Lucy isn’t what she seems. She doesn’t live next door—she’s the girl who’s been hired to house sit for the summer while the family goes on a worldwide vacation. If Gabe wants to believe she’s a spoiled rich girl looking for some fun, she can go along with that. After the summer, she’ll never see him again.

They don’t count on running into each other at college. Now Lucy must keep up the pretense of being a rich girl—and it’s exhausting. She knows she’s falling in love with Gabe and she’s scared he feels the same. Will he still care about her when he discovers the truth?

Review

Sorry Shep, but Gabe is my favorite (so far). I was drawn to him more. Where Shep had that snarky in-your-face intensity, Gabe has more of a easy-going quiet intensity. Somehow it's more disconcerting because that means he's paying attention and could possibly into your soul. Secrets included. With Shep in Fair Game, it was a game of cat and mouse. In the Dark, Gabe may be a little cocky but he's got a soft and, when it comes to Lucy, shy side. At least that's how it was at first when Gabe first saw Lucy and got the nerve to talk to her. But once he knew that he got her, his modest and slightly cocky side comes out to play. At least it's not an asshole type of cocky, it's more like what Gabe calls "overly confident". No probablem with that, it's kind of fun. It's what helps his drive to the things he wants and believe in himself, feel good about himself, helps him see the good and potential in people.

In the Dark lives up to it's title. Lucy but what he doesn't know is that Lucy is actually just house-sitting, not in any way a family of the owner of the house. Lucy keeps Gabe in the dark on that secret, because at first it was easy to lie about that. It only gets harder the closer they get. Lucy could've told Gabe the truth once they've started getting close, but by then it's too late and she's deep into that lie to take it back. Plus, it could hurt any chance she has with him. But lying only makes it worse. You can guess where this goes. if only you were honest at the start. What feels like fun and games in the beginning might evolve later on. Lucy soon learns that in some cases, honesty really is the best policy. Especially if you want to build a strong foundation for your relationships.

I love Lucy. She's got that Latina flare and headstrong mentality that gives her backbone and her sassy attitude. For someone who's so strong, I just wished that she didn't have to feel like she had to hide who she really is and what she's really doing at that house. I know it's not easy, but you'd think that she wouldn't give a damn what any rich kid would think of her and her mother. So, kids, moral of the story is, don't lie or hide yourself just to land a guy. Be yourself and be proud with how strong you were to make it this far in life and don't care what other people think, if the guy doesn't like who you are and where you came from, he's not worth it.

I'm excited to get to know more about Tristan in the next book.

Review

Getting Hot is real hot. Sinfully so. To be honest, when I first heard about this Jailbait series, I was weary about it, so I never gave it a chance. By the time the third one Getting Hot rolled around, I decided to cave in and give it a chance, and I'm glad I did. Now that I've read this one and liked it, I will give the previous books in this series a shot. There was a cameo of the couples from other books in here, and I wouldn't mind delving deeper into their stories.

Getting Hot focuses on Delilah and Branson when Bran mixes up Lilah with her sister Destiny, his co-worker at his family's bar. That is until Lilah clears the air and let it be known that she is actually Destiny's sister, Bran thinking twin sister, which she does not clarify. As you can imagine, that can stir up some trouble since they find a strong attraction to each other when she waltzes in looking for a gig to make some money to help her and her sister stay off the streets.

When we first met Destiny through Bran's POV in the very beginning chapters, I sensed that she'd be one of those crazy clingy stalker gold-digging girlfriends. I even got scared of her at one point. But it stemmed so much deeper than that. The behaviors were actually caused by a trauma that happened to both of them in the past that motivated Destiny to do whatever it takes to have that sense of security especially since they're on their own now. It's so important to talk it out even though something so terrible happened to you; it'll help you heal and move on from that so you can feel safe inside out. It shows how bad trauma really affects our state of mind into altering things or believing things that may be misconstrued in one's mind. I felt bad for what Lilah and Destiny went through at such a young age, and I'm so proud at how strong they were and how they fought back. It's not what anyone should have to go through.

Bran was so strongly opposed by the thought of hooking up with a minor because he's seen all the consequences his friends suffered through because of that, so he was pretty much set in being careful and avoiding the young ones. When the truth on Lilah's age came out, Bran reacted the way you'd expect after hearing how opposed to that he was, but I felt that it wasn't as explosive as I thought it was going to be. He was royally pissed off as he should be. But to be lied to like that and finding himself in the very situation he did not ever want to be in and not have him drag out his hurt, betrayal, anger and avoidance of her was surprising to me. That is a very good thing. He was so mature about the whole thing, kept his cool and set out to keep his girl but he was responsible and respectful about that, that he was willing to wait for her to be of age. That was what made me swoon the most, and will make any lady swoon her panties off. Also doesn't hurt that he knows how to please a lady either. Just sayin. Luckily for Bran though, Lilah is already of age, so they can legally get it on all they want.

Getting Hot took me by surprise, because underage sex in books are usually just briefly mentioned or a rape flashback, if they even happen at all. And if they're briefly mentioned, they're never in detail. And to have Lilah and Bran get it on -- in detail, might I add -- was what surprised me, because technically that's illegal, right? I mean, Bran is of legal age after all. That's why sex is never detailed in literature when a character is underage, even though this happens in real life all the time. Yes, both parties were consenting -- willing is the more accurate term -- but court doesn't see it that way. Not sure why I was surprised though because in the state that they're in, the age of consent is 16 years old, the age that Lilah is.

Trigger warnings: flashback scenes of rape.

He's already saved me in more ways than one. Now it's my turn to do whatever it takes to save him.

Even if that means marrying someone else...

Review

King left us with quite a few twists and answers that only brings more questions. All of which is revealed in Tyrant. In Tyrant, Doe getting familiarized with her old life and the people in it, the fight for custody of Max continues, bits and pieces from Doe's memories comes back, and a hell of a shit storm or two happens. What ever you do, never trust the Tyrant!

T. M. Frazier promised me that I will never see it coming in Tyrant, and she delivered. There were a few things that I predicted that I actually got right (I literally yelled out loud: called it!) and of the few that I got right still managed to shock the hell out of me. And then there were the big things that I never thought to happen and did, and it just left me with my jaw on the floor. So, bravo, T. M. Frazier, you are killing at your writing game, girl. They keep getting better and better and I am more than happy to eat them all up, even when they scare me at times.

If you thought Isaac from the first book was fucking crazy, you don't know what the golden boy next door is capable of. But you will find out, and it will disturb you. The most dangerous people are the ones who hides behind a facade and patience, who waits to show their true colors at the right time to strike. I knew there was something about him (and I had my doubts about daddy dearest too) that just rubbed me the wrong way, knew to never trust him. Never trust the tyrant. And when you find out why, the title makes sense and it so fits this story and the character arc. We also find out that the Nikki that Doe hung out with from the first book had a bigger role than we thought and the truth about her death comes to light in this one. They're all connected to each other and Doe's past. It's part of what makes this all kinds of fucked up.

They all went through tremendous trying times, and we lost a few, but luckily fate gave them an overdue happily ever after. Their HEA was so damn sweet, it brought tears to King's eyes. Yes, you read that right. (Don't tell him I said that -- He'll deny it). They got the family they fought tooth and nail for and wanted. And that ending made me literally LOL...Damn Preppy...Always gotta have the last word AND the last laugh. Wouldn't expect it any other way, though. Man, I miss that mofo.

I can't wait for Bear's book, because he went through some traumatizing shit in this one and I just want him to find what he's looking for, whether he knows what that is or not. He's a stand up guy and a good friend underneath all that leather and tattoos.

Knox Masters is a quarterback's worst nightmare. Warrior. Champion. And...virgin. Knox knows what he wants--and he gets it. All American Football player? Check. NFL pros scouting him? Check. Now, he's set his sight on two things. The national title. And Ellie Campbell. Sure, she's the sister of his fellow teammate, but that's not going to stop him. Especially not when he’s convinced Ellie is the one.

...but he's never met her before.

But Ellie isn't as sure. She's trying to start a new life and she's not interested in a relationship...with anyone. Beside it's not just her cardinal rule of never dating her brother's teammates that keeps her away, but Ellie has a dark secret that would jeopardize everything Knox is pursuing.

Knox has no intention of losing. Ellie has no intention of giving in.

Review

I've never read a Jen Frederick book before this one, but I've heard many good things about her darker or more serious books full of intrigue and action (I'm going to have to rectify that soon). Sacked strays pretty far away from that genre; it's lighter, sporty, funny, yet sexy. It was a lot of fun getting to know these characters. I shed some laughing tears while reading.

I probably should've done some research before diving into Sacked so I wouldn't have been literally sacked by the surprise that the hero is a virgin. Actually, no warning about that wasn't too bad, but it made me very skeptical. I mean, it's not common that many 20-something year old's are virgins nowadays--men and women alike--but Knox is a professional football player, so the opportunities and temptations must be brimming. It's pretty rare, but it's also possible. I just love a virgin hero; it's like spotting a unicorn. I think that key element was what made this all the more alluring and intriguing. We want to see if, when and who he finally decides to give the v-card up, and I think he chose wise (Not being biased at all...heh, heh).

One of the big things that got me laughing my arse off was the guys. Knox's team, how they cap on each other, is super hilarious. All in good fun of course. There's this scene where Knox gets a text from Ellie and he and the guys somehow get on the subject of how to understand what women really mean that ultimately leads up to them arguing and reading up on Cosmo. I don't know, it was just funny to me to imagine grown ass men turning to Cosmo for some advice from a magazine. Though I must admit that it was a smarter thing to do than the usual brushing it off sort of thing.

Thank you Jen Frederick for the entertaining read that provided many laughs for me, and and thanks to Nina Bocci for giving me the opportunity to read Sacked. I can't wait to read more.

She was forbidden.

I didn’t care.

As my best friend’s little sister, Macey Hale was off-limits, but the girl was tempting as sin and forbidden as fuck. I wish I could say that stopped me. I wish I could tell you I behaved like a gentleman.

I didn’t.

When she waltzes back into my life with that same spark I fell for, looking every bit the beautiful woman I knew she’d grow into, I have to force myself to remember I’m different from the man she once knew. I’m colder. Harder. And for good reason.
With my heart on lockdown and my hands aching to touch her, I set out to prove that I can keep myself in check this time.

No strings. No attachments.

And definitely no falling for her again.

If you love steamy romance, you won't want to miss this older brother's best friend romance.

This is book two in the Lessons with the Dom series, following The Gentleman Mentor. Both are complete standalone novels featuring sexy Dominant men you're sure to fall in love with. Enjoy!

Review

What's more forbidden than pursuing your best friends little sister? Making her your submissive. What makes it even better is that Macey and Reece knew each other back then and crossed some lines at the wrong time, the wrong age. So there are a couple of taboo themes going on in this book that leads into something very delicious once they reunite six years later.

Reece and Macey thought they were over each other once they went their separate ways six years ago, and they managed individually and with other people, but ultimately the spark between them never actually went away. They carried their hurt and rejection when they went about life without each other, but when Macey comes back home to start over, do those feelings come back and punch them in the chest once they reunite. They still carry a torch for each other that they realize no one in their life ever measured up to. The chemistry and attraction is still there and hotter than ever.

Macey is back and she wants to explore her sexual side, and who better to do that with than first love, Reece, the only one she trusts not to mention love? Whom turns out to be the owner of the BDSM club she waltzed into. This couldn't be more perfect. So she recruits Reece to show her the ropes (pun intended). He is a Dom after all -- How hard could it be? Only 3 sessions. Should be a cakewalk. If only they knew what they were getting themselves into...

The thing I loved most about their dynamic was that they knew each other from way back when, and they were just as good of friends as Reece and Macey's brother was/is, as well as more than just friends. They were each others first love. So there was an easy comfort around each other, and there was an underlying burning attraction they feel for each other simmering. And when that surfaces, boy does it ignite. I can gush about how sweet and flaming hot they are together, but you'll see for yourselves. Their feelings for each other mixed with being intimate -- body, heart and soul -- just made it all the more hotter. Sure, as a Dom, he messed up their sessions, and as a friend, he kind of messes up too because of it. But eventually Reece was able to separate his feelings and his duty as a Dom and get things right with Macey, and keep her as his forever girl. Knowing this is second chance romance potential will have you rooting for them to follow their damn heart and hormones already.

I was a little confused about where Reece's hurt was coming from. In his head, he sounds like she broke his heart or rejected to be with him, but he's the one who put a stop to their fooling around. He didn't want to be the guy who holds her back from college and pursue a career, so he let her go to college and live her life without him. Okay, fine...after he confessed why he let her go I understood his hurt. It's not easy letting the one you love go, even if it's the right thing to do. As the saying goes -- If they come back, it was meant to be, right?

I love Kendall Ryan's dip into the BDSM pool with her previous series, and she freakin' dived in headfirst and gracefully well-done with this series. It just keeps on getting better and hotter each series, each book. I keep learning new things about this community through Kendall's books, and it's such an eye-opener. It's not what society makes this kind of kink made out to be, it's more complex than that and not just depravity like us outsider thought it was. Sinfully Mine is one hot second chance romance. Best friends little sister/brothers best friend taboo, BDSM and second chance romance all wrapped up in one, what more can you ask for? You have nearly everything you're looking for. Even though this was a satisfying read, I am already hungry for more from Kendall Ryan.

{Blog Tour} Review: King by T. M. Frazier
King - T.M. Frazier

Title: King

Series: King #1

Author: T. M. Frazier

Genre: New Adult, Erotic Romantic Suspense

Release Date: June 15, 2015

Homeless, hungry and desperate enough to steal, Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.

A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, pu$$y or a combination of all three.

King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.

Warning: This book contains graphic violence, consensual and nonconsensual sex, drug use, abuse, and other taboo subjects and adult subject matter. Although originally slated to be a standalone, KING is now a two part series.

The long-awaited KING has finally arrived, and boy was it something and then some. We've been waiting to meet King since the first teasers surfaced a year ago, when it was originally supposed to be released then, only to be pushed back...For very good reason. The wait was totally worth it. KING is chalk full of tension, action, mystery, suspense, partying, drugs, swearing, humor, fighting, dirty-talk, sexy times, tattooing, secrets, hidden agendas, death, passion, sex and plot twists.

Our girl, Doe, is fiesty AF, and I just loved her for that. She doesn't let her lack of memories hinder her. To survive out there on her own; to stand up to King when he fucked up; call him out on his bullshit, and she doesn't take the shit he throws her way... Girl has got balls of steel. Especially with the hand she got dealt in life. It takes a lot of inner strength to not withdraw or let it get to you. I was amazed at how she carried herself throughout this book, and with the way it ended, I wonder how she'll carry in the next book.

King is a lot of things. Some qualities were surprising, while others were to be expected. He's dangerous, infuriating, cunning, an asshole, well-endowed, moody/grumpy, hot as fuck, cocky as hell and extra alpha-y. Damn, can that man ditry-talk and strum all the right cords in all the right ways. It also doesn't hurt that he's got incredible stamina, HOLY HOT DAMN. *fans self*

There were a number of times where King was wishy-washy, and that just didn't make him seem trustworthy. Even the chapters that are in his POV, I couldn't believe his feelings and thoughts because they often differed from his actions. King made me especially rage-y twice. Once, after their first date -- To kick Doe out after THAT after their date? OH, HELL NO. Doe should've cockpunched him then and there. And the other time was during the scene at the end with the trade. Poor Doe...So easily disposed of twice in her life.

King is a bad, bad boy for many reasons, but he's got a soft spot for Doe, Max, and for his brothers from another mother, Preppy and Bear. That's where the surprising qualities about him comes in. To see him open up to Doe about himself and Max -- It showed that, in a way, he kind of does love Doe. He's protective and he's a fighter for the ones he loves, even if he is a little misguided in that regard. King and Doe are both strong characters and that's what makes them work so well together as well as when they're at each others throats. Things get intense between them both in the bedroom and emotionally. They are seriously hot for each other sexually, emotionally and argumentatively. King is also not one to be crossed. You'll either love him, lust him, hate him, want to kill him or hump him, but either way he will leave an intense impression on you.

Preppy... The oddball, the life of the party, the show-stealer, King's best fucking friend in the world. He may be weird and into some crazy and scary shit, but you just can't help but love the guy. Maybe it's because of his wayward ways and infectious enthusiasm and humor. I strive to have a ceremony like his because there is no way I'm going down without the last word, either, motherfuckers. Damn, I miss that guy already.

Mother of fucking plot twists. Yes, there are few in here that changes the game. A few of them being: We finally find out what King knew all along. We finally know who Doe is and where she came from. Doe finally knows who she is. And then there are the people in her past life (that she has no memory of, mind you). That just leaves the question of what on earth happened that caused Doe to lose her memory, and how she ended up waking in an alleyway the night her memory vanished. All of which I presume will be revealed in Tyrant, the conclusion to their story, coming out in August. All I know is, is that I don't trust the people in Doe's life. There's a lot of shadiness there, and I can't wait to see how Frazier will tell us the rest of the story in Tyrant. If you took a liking to Dark Light of Day, you will eat this all up.

King

Tattooing Doe was the single most erotic moment of my life. Marking her perfect, pale skin with a tattoo I'd designed for her made me so fucking hard I had to adjust myself every thirty seconds in order to concentrate on my work.

When I was done, I handed her the hand mirror, and she walked over to the full-sized mirror that hung on the back of the door, like she'd seen dozens of my other clients do before. When she held up the hand mirror, she gasped.

"What?" I asked in a panic, hoping she didn't already see what I'd hidden in the tattoo. I was an asshole for putting it there. I was an asshole for tattooing her in the first place.

I was just an asshole.

But I couldn't help myself. My name needed to be on her. It wasn’t enough just to call her mine. I needed to mark her as well. So hidden in the vine work under the quote I found that I thought was perfect for her, was my name.

KING was woven into the design.  In order to see it you had to tilt your head or otherwise you wouldn't notice it. But it was there.

I would tell her eventually of course, but I wanted it to be my secret for a while. She'd stopped being my possession a while ago, a lot longer before I cared to admit, but I still felt the need to mark her as mine.

I still liked the idea of owning her.

Only now, she owned me, too.

She didn't notice the name. Tears filled her eyes. She stood there staring at the hand mirror in just her panties. Little cheeky ones where her ass hung out of the bottoms. Her tits were only inches from my face. Her tears of happiness made my dick twitch. Although her sad tears evoked the same response.

My dick wasn't partial to which kind of tears he liked.

I took the mirror from her hand and lifted her up onto the counter. "You like it?" I asked, pushing her panties down her legs.

"I love it," she panted, wrapping her legs around me, drawing me close. Her wetness soaking my boxers. I pushed them down with one hand. I'd been hard for three hours, the entire time I’d been working on her, and couldn't wait any longer. I pushed inside her tight, wet heat.

We both moaned at the contact.

"You love it?" I asked, needing to hear her say it again.

"Yes, I love it!" she said as I thrust up into her, hard. "I love it. So much. I love you."

I froze when I heard the words, and when I did, her eyes flung open.

"I didn't mean—"

"Shut the fuck up."

"Oh my god, I have that word vomit thing. I’m sorry.  Shit, I just meant that—"

"Shut the fuck up!" I demanded, thrusting hard to get her attention. She closed her eyes, and her head fell back. "That's fucking better. Now, keep that pretty mouth of yours shut while I fuck you."

"Okay," she whispered, breathless.

"Shut up," I said again, and she closed her mouth. "Shut up so I can fuck you…and show you how much I love you."

She nodded and although her eyes stayed shut, a tear rolled down her cheek. I sucked it off her chin before it could fall to the floor.

Then, I fucked her.

Hard.

I showed her how much I loved her until I couldn't tell where I started and she began. Until all that was in that room was me and her and the thing between us that kept pulling us together like magnets. Until we were lost in sensations and orgasms.

And in each other.

I fucked her until we were one person, and in a way we were, because I'd lost myself along the way and I found myself again in the most unlikely place.

I'd found myself again in the haunted eyes of a girl who was just as lost as I was.

Or maybe, we didn't find each other at all.

Maybe, we just decided to be lost together.

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

Review

Sethie and Josie sitting in a tree... ;-P

Sethie aka our favorite cuddle bunny is back and he kicks it up a notch. Badass fighting, ninja skills, sass, jokes, flirting, sexual innuendos, cuddles, caring for someone other than himself (hint: Josie), you name it. He surprises Josie, the characters, us readers and himself.

I went into this with a YA state of mind just like I did with ACOTAR... I have to stop doing that. I mean, both authors are mostly YA authors, after all. I guess I just got used to that. The steam and sexy times gave me a whiplash until I remembered that these are actually NA, not YA. It was hot to finally see Seth in action after all we heard about his rep in the Covenant series.

As for the gods, yeah, they were total assholes as per usual, but you can't help but love (some of) them. It was somewhat good to see them. Thank gods they showed up and saved the day from the big bag Hyperion. Josie tapped into her demigod powers and did something that will sure to put a bounty/target over her head, and it's going to get rowdy and scary for her in the next book because of that. I only wished that we got to see Alex and Aiden, but maybe in the next one. That'll be interesting.

JLA never fails — Her voice written in true JLA-like fashion. It's always funny, full of complexities and depth, sexy and sarcastic. Those are what I like about her books. There's that distinction that incorporates the embodiment of JLA's humor and spirit into her writing. It's what people, including myself, love about her books. That's what makes it more personal — when the authors voice is so strong in their own writing.

I can't wait to meet Jennifer and Sethie aka Drew Leighty (the cover model) at Love N Vegas this summer! I'll probably fangirl and swoon so hard and die. What a way to go. ;)

Review

Well... This is the end of the line in the beloved Beachwood Bay/Callahan series. Unforgettable is like a farewell, and what a beautiful send off it was.I got all teary-eyed finishing it, and again while writing this review. I might have a binge reread of this series soon.

This series really is unforgettable, and they saved the ever-busy-body Ash for last. Ash finally gets his story in Unforgettable, and each couple we've met in the previous books got a chance to share a snippet of their story during a special occasion in the epilogue. That was a nice treat; It filled me with happy tears. And our first favorite couple that started it all, Juliet and Emerson, plays a big role in this one. She's made more than one or two cameos that is sure to make the fans happy. I just want to add that I so called that ending since that little note before the beginning of Unmasked, and it is about freaking time!!! Can we get a little more in the near future after that little tease? ;) Tegan, Brit and Alicia have pretty big roles in this one as well, and it was such a joy to seem them again and have them all together.

I remember when it all started, in Untouched and Unbroken, with Juliet and Emerson, a couple of years ago. I downloaded the prequel novella on a whim when it was free on Amazon, and just kept going from there. It was one of the first New Adult book(s) that got me into NA in the first place. We've met so many people, lost some, gained love and friends and family, learned a handful of lessons over the years. Now it's come to an end. Saying goodbye right now is bittersweet.

Thank you, Melody Grace, for having me part of the arc team...It was like becoming a part of the Beachwood Bay family. Thank you for introducing such a tight-knit group of wonderful characters. Beachwood Bay sounds so lush every time I read each book -- Feel free to transport me there. Farewell, Beachwood Bay, it's been quite a wild, swoony and heart-felt ride. Rest in peace to those we have lost --Juliet's mom, Noelle's Nana, the Callahan's parents, Dex and Tegan's former bandmate/friend... You'd all be proud of them today.

Pucked - Helena Hunting

Title: Pucked

Series: Pucked #1

Author: Helena Hunting

Publication Date: May 3, 2015

Genre: New Adult Sports Contemporary Romance

With a famous NHL player for a step-brother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation many hockey stars come with. She’s smart enough to steer clear of those hot, well-built boys with unparalleled stamina. That is until she meets the legendary team captain—Alex Waters.

Violet isn’t interested in his pretty, beat-up face, or his rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s previous misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes more than just a hot body with a face to match.

In what can only be considered a complete lapse in judgment, Violet finds out just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. But what starts out as a one-night stand, quickly turns into something more. Post-night of orgasmic magic, Alex starts to call, and text, and e-mail and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts, making him difficult to ignore, and even more difficult not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

Review

Helena first won my heart with Hayden in Clipped Wings -- LOL jk, it was the cupcakes -- and then The Librarian Principle, which was a perfect mix of spunk, hilarity, tension, forbidden-ness, and sexytimes. If I thought TLP was funny and dirty, Helena kicked it up a notch with Pucked. I don't know, maybe it was I was in a hockey-kick and needed more, but this was the perfect thing to fill my needs.

Fantasies aplenty here, folks. Locker room sex? Check. Unfortunately, it's not so sexy when your step-brother walks in. Talk about embarrassing...And rude. Yep, Buck, how very rude of you. At least they got off before he literally crashed the fun.

Oh man did Alex fuck up in the way you'd think when it comes to media hounding on a star players ass. I'm glad that Alex eventually realized his mistakes and went searched high and low, near and far to find a way to earn her forgiveness and win her back. And I'm also proud that Violet really made Alex work for it.

The humor in this book was quite...unique and...unconventional? I think that's the best I can explain it, but I think it's what had me busting out laughing so many times. The type of humor in Pucked may not be for everyone, but that's okay. It worked for me. It's what made it all the more organic, and we can all use a refresher.

I can't wait to read Buck's book next! Ready for the yeti.

Never Never (part 2)
Never Never: Part Two - Colleen Hoover, Tarryn Fisher

In Never Never part 1, I was confused. If you read my review for it or my reading progress on Goodreads, you'd see how much and how it never changed. Strange things were happening to Charlie and Silas, and it turns out that it's a recurring thing that they have to figure out how it all started and how to stop it. Then the ending! What was that!? And what happened to Charlie? It had us readers on the edge for the next installment to see what happens next.  I said it once, and I'll say it again: Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher writing together is pure genius (and torture).

Upon the release of the long awaited (for this one, 4 months is a pretty long wait) second installment, we are expecting to get some answers as to what the hell is happening. Things do continue, and we see them unfold, we question and theorize, BUT WE STILL. KNOW. NOTHING. As some things slowly came into light, new mysteries kept popping up. We end up with even more questions. How is this fair? Leaving us hanging like that? It's not. And the evil genius duo that are Colleen and Tarryn intended it that way. I guess it's part of the fun (for them). Now we have to wait even longer to get some answers from BOTH PARTS. Like Courtney Cole's NOCTE trilogy, I became a complete headcase. What the hell did you guys do to me? I hate it and love it at the same time.

Colleen and Tarryn-- I refuse to admit defeat. I need to know what the fuck happened and will happen next. Bring on part 3.

A fuckboy-free zone.
